Mark D. Goodman is a senior global executive, board chairman and corporate director with extensive leadership experience across Fortune 50 companies, private enterprises, financial services, insurance, higher education and mission-driven organizations. His career has centered on enterprise transformation, brand and growth strategy, governance, organizational performance and navigating institutions through periods of significant change.

 

Mr. Goodman has held senior executive leadership roles at two of the world’s most recognized consumer companies—Walmart/Sam’s Club and McDonald’s Corporation—where he helped lead large-scale growth, brand transformation and strategic initiatives across complex organizations and markets.

 

As Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of Walmart/Sam’s Club, Mr. Goodman helped develop and execute a multi-year strategic roadmap focused on consumer segmentation, brand reinvention, operational effectiveness and growth. Previously, as Corporate Vice President, U.S. Brand & Strategy at McDonald’s Corporation, Mr. Goodman helped shape a long-range strategic vision for the US business. 

BOARD LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

Mr. Goodman has developed substantial governance experience across corporate, financial-services, insurance and higher-education institutions. He is a National Association of Corporate Directors Leadership Fellow and has served in board chairman, vice chairman and committee leadership roles spanning audit and risk, investment, finance, compensation, advancement and executive oversight.

His board leadership includes serving as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The College of Wooster, Tufts University Board of Trustees, where his responsibilities have included Audit & Risk, and Advancement. He previously served on the Xavier University of Louisiana Board of Trustees and has held additional leadership positions across education and community organizations.

His corporate and financial-services governance experience includes a decade on the Pinnacol Assurance Board of Directors, including service as Board Chair, Compensation Committee Chair and Executive Committee member. He also serves on the boards of Delta Dental of Colorado and Bellco Credit Union, with leadership responsibilities encompassing audit, investment and enterprise risk.

Since leaving full-time Fortune 50 executive leadership, he has served as an investor, CEO and senior strategic adviser to growth and middle-market companies across consumer products, financial services and other sectors. He currently serves as Chairman of Colorado Nut Holding Company and as Global Brand Advisor to Vistage Worldwide, the global CEO peer-advisory and executive-coaching organization.

Across these roles, Mr. Goodman is known for integrating strategy, data, brand, governance and execution—particularly in situations requiring organizations to challenge established assumptions, reposition for growth and translate long-term vision into measurable results.

 

 

EDUCATION

Mr. Goodman earned a Master of Arts in Philosophy and Analytic Logic from Tufts University and a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from The College of Wooster. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy from Livingstone College.
